The job profile
The successful candidate will work in the editing and translation project team, which is part of Area Communication, Information and Dissemination (CID). S/he will support the editing and translation service in the preparation of documents destined for publication and will report to the project manager for editing and translation.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

• Coordinate the finalisation of the edited text:

o Liaise between the project manager and the editor (internal or external) to prepare the final version of the edited text
o Carry out a final quality check of the document to ensure that there are no errors of form or content
o Forward the text to the layout team
o Electronically file edited documents

• Support workflow management when needed:

o Receive publication requests
o Plan editing work in cooperation with the rest of the publications team
o Launch the workflow
o Monitor and report on the status

FORMAL REQUIREMENTS
To be considered eligible, applicants must:
• Be a citizen of one of the Member States of the European Union;
• Have completed a level of post-secondary education attested by a diploma or a level of secondary education attested by a diploma which gives access to post- secondary education and, after having obtained the diploma, 3 years appropriate full-time professional experience
• Have a thorough knowledge of one of the languages of the Communities and satisfactory knowledge of another language of the Communities ( );
• Enjoy full rights as a citizen;
• Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by the laws on military service;
• Be physically fit to perform the duties relating to the post ( ).

SELECTION CRITERIA

Candidates should have a good sense of adaptability, responsibility and autonomy. Good organisational and time management skills as well as attention to detail are required. Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team, to tight deadlines.

Essential criteria

• 3 years of professional experience in tasks similar to those mentioned under Job responsibilities and tasks above in addition to what is requested in the 2nd bullet point under ’Formal requirements’ above;
• Native-speaker standard of written and spoken English;
• Knowledge of editing processes;
• Good oral communication skills and the ability to draft correspondence and short communications clearly and simply;
• Excellent knowledge of and ability to use MS Word, Excel and Outlook as well as the Internet.

Additional assets
• Experience of document management systems;
• Prior experience as an administrative assistant in an international or European context.

Selection procedure
Eligibility of candidates will be assessed according to compliance with all eligibility criteria (formal requirements) by the closing date for the submission of applications. Non-eligible candidates will not be considered further in the selection process. A shortlist of candidates will be established with those candidates who meet the essential criteria and who most closely meet the additional assets. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for written tests and an interview.

Please note:It is intended to hold tests and interviews in Thessaloniki, on 26 and 27 March 2012 (subject to change). A list of suitable candidates will be drawn up by Cedefop. Candidates must obtain a minimum total score of 60% in the written tests and interviews to be proposed for admission to the list of suitable candidates.

Contractual conditions

The contract is for five years with the possibility of renewal.

The successful candidate will be recruited in grade AST 2. The basic monthly salary for grade AST 2 (step 1) is approximately € 3,000. In addition, staff members may be entitled to various allowances such as household allowance, expatriation allowance, dependent child and education allowance.
The place of employment is Thessaloniki where Cedefop is located.

Logement intergénérationnel : loger gratuitement chez un sénior contre présence

Une chambre sera disponible à partir de janvier 2012 dans un grand appartement du très chic 16ème arrondissement de Paris.

L’hébergement est gratuit (chambre d’environ 15 m² avec une grande fenêtre et un balcon) en échange de services et de présence auprès d’un monsieur âgé.

Dans l’idéal, il faut être présent toutes les nuits à l’appartement en semaine, et passer deux soirées par semaine avec la personne (diner, puis soirée) et rester deux week-end par mois à Paris en passant un peu de temps avec lui (un repas, une balade…). Les services peuvent être modulables selon les disponibilités de chacun. Un week-end peu très bien être remplacé par des promenades en semaine … à vous de voir.

Le concept de partage de logement entre seniors et étudiants commence à se développer depuis 2004 en France. Des associations se sont créées pour mettre en relation les étudiants et les personnes âgées.

Pour les seniors, le but est de continuer à vivre à leur domicile en étant moins isolés. Pour les étudiants, l’intérêt est de se loger à moindre coût mais aussi d’être utile et solidaire.

Bien sur, ce type de formule ne se choisit pas à la légère. Vous devez avoir une réelle motivation pour vivre et partager l’espace avec une personne âgée.
